Be Still

“Be Still …”

Reading from Psalm 46:

Come, see the glorious works of the Lord: See how he brings destruction upon the world. He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; he burns the shields with fire.

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” (Psalm 46:8-10, NLT)

God invites us to look at what God has done and is doing. He wants us to see Him for Who He is, the One Who ultimately rules the universe and directs the course of nations.

He directs us to stop trying to make things happen on our own, to stop trying to save ourselves, to stop looking at ourselves and to focus on Him.

He wants us to be still and watch Him work.

This will only happen if we will take some time to be quiet before Him and allow His Spirit to speak to our hearts.

And it is from these quiet times of contemplation that we can go forth in confidence with Him to accomplish the work He has for us to do.

Don’t neglect quiet time in contemplation of God’s Word, remembering what He has done in your life!
